1. DISSERTATION TITLE
결론은 정확하고 간결한게 좋다. Title은 결국 이 논문이 무엇에 관한 내용인가를 대변한다. 제목이 길면 관심을 끌기 힘들고 너무 짧으면 논문의 purpose가 전달되기 힘들다.
- 최대한 간결하게 (10단어 정도)
- Title은 논문 내용의 Abstract가 작성된 후 정한다. (대략적인 제목 작성 후 수정)
- 주제와 관련된 용어를 사용한다.
- 독자들이 잘 모르는 약어나 용어는 삼간다.
2. ABSTRACT
What is an abstract?
An abstract is an important section of your dissertation. It gives an overall summary of your research. Therefore, it is important to understand the factors necessary to write a good dissertation abstract. There are three different ways to write a dissertation abstract. They are:
- Descriptive Abstract: A descriptive abstract is like an outline of your original research. It presents all ideas discussed in your dissertation and summarises your methodology. However, it does not summarise results or conclusions of your research.
- Informative Abstract: An informative abstract is a shortened form of your dissertation. It summarises all your arguments that you use in your dissertation. It gives readers an overview about objectives, methods, results and conclusions of your research.
- Critical Abstract: A critical abstract is a critical analysis of a dissertation. The abstractor assesses a research and compares it with other work on same subject. It is a condensed critical analysis.
How to Write an abstract?
Writing an abstract can be a challenging task since you are required to provide a summary of your whole dissertation within short word constraint. Therefore, you first need to first draw its outline before writing an abstract of your dissertation. This will help you write it effectively and speedily.
Following are some important tips that will help you write a good abstract:
- Show Purpose: Firstly, you need to describe the purpose of your research. You need to show what you want to prove or disprove through your research. You need to explain the purpose in first two lines of your abstract. Also, you have to show how your research is unique and explain how it will contribute in existing research.
- Explain your Research: You need to describe the methodology of your research in abstract. Show highlights of your research. Describe your research as qualitative or quantitative. Avoid discussing things not directly related with your research.
- Be Succinct: As mentioned above, your abstract needs to be written within specific word constraint usually no more than 2 pages and 400-600 words. You need to cover all important aspects of your research within this word limit. So, you should make it concise and to the point. In addition, you need to be direct and clear while writing abstract of your dissertation and avoid cluttering of information. Remember to use terms and words from your dissertation; it will help readers easily understand your dissertation.
논문의 초록은 논문내용, 과정, 결론 등을 최대한 간결하고 명확하게 다음과 같은 내용을 전달한다

- 연구 내용 및 결과
초록은 위의 영어설명에 나온 그대로 논문의 SUMMARY 이다. 그렇기 때문에 제일 중요한 것은 본문을 읽기 전에 내용 파악을 빨리 할 수 있게끔 작성한다. 논문 발표 및 소개 등에 사용될 수 있다.
초록에는 4가지 내용이 꼭 포함되어야 한다.
- WHY 연구동기
- HOW 연구방법
- RESULT 연구결과
- CONCLUSION 연구 결과로부터 얻은 일반적인 결론
영어로 논문을 작성시 다음과 같은 사항을 염두한다.
- 일반적으로 2장 이상을 넘기지 않으며 400-600 단어 정도 단어로 작성하고 한 개의 문단으로 구성
- 논문 본문 내용을 아예 모르는 독자에게 전달한다 생각하고 작성
- 되도록 능동태로 작성
- 시제는 연구된 결과이면 과거를 사용
- 시제는 꼭 일치되도록
